Privacy policy
Effective [To confirm: effective date].
What you do on your phone stays on your phone. Your account holds only your email, name, plan settings and, if you turn on backup, daily totals.
The short version
- Your pause history, the reasons you tap, the apps you pick and your Besto Score stay on your phone. They never reach us.
- If you turn on backup, we keep one line of totals for each day: how many times you put the phone down, how many times you opened a paused app, your Focus minutes and whether it was a good day. Never the times, the apps or your reasons.
- An account is optional. Without one, we don’t have your name or email.
- We don’t sell your data, we don’t show ads, and we don’t track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
- You can delete your account in the app, whenever you like.
Who we are
Besto is made by Avighna Digital Private Limited (“we”, “us”), [To confirm: registered address]. Questions about this policy or your data: founders@theattentioncompany.co.
What stays on your phone
These are stored only on your phone, and we have no copy:
- Every pause: when it opened, whether you put the phone down or opened the app, and for how long.
- The reason you tap on “What’s this for?”.
- Which apps you pause. Apple gives Besto a sealed token for each app, so we can’t even read the app names.
- Your Besto Score and its history, your sessions, and your messaging shortcuts.
Your quiet hours, your plan, your days in a row and your daily totals stay on your phone too, unless you turn on backup (below).
What we collect, and why
If you create an account
- Email address, to sign you in with a 6-digit code and to send account emails, such as the reminder before a free trial ends. With Sign in with Apple you can hide your real address.
- First name, if you give one or Apple or Google shares it, so Besto can greet you. It can also appear on your invite (“From Riya”); you can hide it.
- An account id that links your account to your subscription and invites.
- Country, time zone and your Night hours, so reminders never arrive during your Night hours, and the time you confirmed the age check.
If you turn on backup
Backup is off unless you switch it on (Settings › Account). With it on, we keep:
- Your plan: your quiet hours, pause length, which kinds of messaging shortcut you use and a summary of your days in a row (counts only), so your plan follows you to a new phone.
- Daily totals: one line for each day with how many times you put the phone down, how many times you opened a paused app, your Focus minutes and whether it was a good day. Only the date and these four numbers, so your history follows you too.
Never your app list, your pause history, the times you used your phone or your reasons. Turning backup off in Account settings deletes all of it from our servers: your plan and every daily total.
Your subscription
You pay through the App Store (and Google Play, when Besto comes to Android); we never see your card. Our subscription provider, RevenueCat, and our server keep your purchase history: which plan you’re on, the store, trial and renewal status, the expiry date, whether a payment failed, and the store’s transaction id. We use it to switch your plan on, to remind you before you’re billed and to apply invite rewards. You can subscribe without an account; then your purchase is tied to a random id instead.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, we keep your device’s push token so we can send reminders, such as the one before a trial ends.
Invites
Your account gets an invite code. When a friend joins with it, we record a random install id for their phone, how the code arrived (a link, the store or a paste), the status and dates, and the store’s transaction id, so the right person gets the reward and the same purchase can’t earn it twice. As the person who invited them, you see only the status and dates, never who they are.
This website
When you open a page on this website, our host, Lovable, processes your IP address and the request to serve the page and keep it secure.
- The site sets no cookies.
- It keeps one letter (A or B) in your browser’s local storage so you see the same version of the home page next time, and a random visit id in session storage that is forgotten when you close the tab. Neither is linked to you or to the app.
- If visit counting is switched on, we count things like page views, taps on the App Store button, whether the demo was finished and which version of the page you saw, without cookies and without storing your IP address.
- If you open an invite link, the code in the link stays in your browser; this website doesn’t record it.
- Nothing from the app ever reaches this website.
When you email us
We keep the conversation so we can help you.
Who else handles it
Only companies that run parts of Besto for us, under contract, and only for that job:
- Supabase: our database and sign-in.
- RevenueCat: subscriptions.
- Apple and Google: sign-in, purchases and push delivery.
- Expo: delivers push notifications to Apple and Google.
- Resend: sends sign-in codes and account emails.
- Lovable: hosts this website and invite pages.
We don’t sell personal data or share it for advertising. We’d disclose it only if the law requires it.
No tracking
Besto doesn’t track you: no advertising SDKs, and nothing we collect is linked with other companies’ data for ads. That’s why the app never shows Apple’s “Allow tracking” prompt.
How long we keep it
Until you delete your account. A few things outlast it:
- A record that a deletion happened: an id and dates, with no email or name.
- Invite records, without your account attached (the random install id and the store’s transaction id), so a reward can’t be claimed twice.
- Our log of subscription events from RevenueCat. [To confirm: retention period]
- What Apple, Google and our providers keep under their own policies, such as store purchase records.
Deleting your account
In the app: tap the gear on Home, then Account › Delete account. That deletes your account, email, name, invite code, pending rewards and backup, and asks RevenueCat to delete your subscription record. If you used Sign in with Apple, we also revoke that link. Deleting doesn’t cancel a subscription: cancel it in your App Store subscriptions. More on our delete page.
Your choices and rights
You can see, correct, export or delete your data, and turn backup off. Email founders@theattentioncompany.co from the address on your account. Depending on where you live, local law may give you more rights, including complaining to your data protection authority. [To confirm: rights by region and the legal bases, from counsel]
Children
Besto isn’t made for children. You need to be at least [To confirm: minimum age] to use it, and in India the app asks you to confirm you’re 18 or older.
Where your data is stored
[To confirm: production database region] Our providers may process data in other countries, with safeguards required by law.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we’ll tell you in the app before it applies. The date at the top shows the current version.
